Demand a Fourth Option

In August, the Mayor consulted on three plans that would massively damage our area. To replace the Plimsoll bridge he wished to either drive a dual carriageway through Hotwells over the Merchants Rd bridge or tarnish views of the Clifton Suspension bridge by building a new bridge across the Avon gorge.
We believe there is another way. There are plans the Mayor refuses to release that could work better for residents. By repairing the Plimsoll bridge and simplifying the surrounding road structures, we can clear space for development without carving up our community.

We the undersigned call upon the Mayor of Bristol to release the full details of consultancy reports on all the options for the redevelopment of the Cumberland Basin and further demand that he adds the "4th option" of retaining the existing Plimsoll swing bridge, but with removal of some of the elevated access ramps and sections, to the three options that he intends to explore prior to full planning consultation.
