The Bristol Lib Dem 2021 local election manifesto is centred around three things: Sustainability, Better Service & Better Governance. Our ambitious but achievable vision for Bristol is is an embodiment of the Lib Dem preamble in our constitution 'The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.'
I signed the Bristol SEND Community Alliance manifesto because I believe that every child deserves an equal opportunity to flourish and thrive.
For too long, children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families in Bristol have been let down.
250 children and young people left without a specialist school place. Unacceptable delays in the issuing of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). A lack of transparency and accountability, with parents and carers unable to have their voices heard. Families left to fight to have their child’s basic needs met.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Voters who normally go to the Bristol School for the Performing Arts (The White Hart) in Brislington Village to vote should be aware it is no longer available. Therefore, the polling station has moved to Holymead Juniors on Wick Road, accommodated in the Lower Hall.
