Bristol Liberal Democrats have long advocated for a franchised bus system in Bristol, to make bus companies accountable to the people of our city.
Under a franchised system, it would be up to the authority to choose the routes, timetables and fares that they want, before tendering these to private companies to provide the service. This would increase competition in Bristol's bus system as well as making the private companies accountable for the service they provide.
Because of this, we support the 'Take Control of Bristol's Buses' campaign that is petitioning Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority to implement franchising for our bus system.
If you agree that we need a reliable, accountable bus system in our city then please sign the petition on change.org and share the campaign on social media.
